Atri Sharma, Senior Director at Securonix Elected as Member of Prestigious Apache Software Foundation

Published on March 26, 2021

We are proud to announce that Atri Sharma, Senior Director at Securonix, was recently elected to become a member of the Apache Software Foundation, the world’s largest open-source foundation.

Established in 1999 by a group known as the “Apache Group,” the Apache Software Foundation’s commitment to collaborative development has long served as a model for producing consistently high-quality software that advances the future of open development. Today, the foundation is a decentralized open-source community of developers who collaborate on free and open-source software (FOSS) projects under the terms of the Apache License and have created several market-leading software products.

Membership to this prestigious association is a privilege only received through invitation. Because the foundation is a meritocracy, candidates are elected by existing members and judged on their skills, as well as participation in Apache projects, of which they must have contributed to one or more.

Remarking on the nomination, Atri shared, “The journey has been humbling. My baby steps into the foundation started with Apache Apex, running my own Apache project for a while, then majorly into Apache HAWQ and Apache MADLib and into the world of Apache Lucene and Apache Solr.” Additionally, Atri noted his nomination came as a result of an honorable mention from his mentor, David Smiley, Apache Lucene/Solr expert.

Congratulations to Atri from all of us at Securonix on this impressive achievement. We look forward to seeing all of your continued success with the foundation as well as Securonix.
