From Zoomin to Fluid Topics: Evolving the Securonix Documentation Experience

From Zoomin to Fluid Topics: Evolving the Securonix Documentation Experience

By: Mark Johnson, Manager, Knowledge Engineering

You’ve heard it said: “The more things change, the more they stay the same.”

Well, sometimes, everything changes and you don’t even notice!

This just happened. The Securonix Documentation Portal changed completely, and everything looks the same! (Well, almost.)

A few years ago, Securonix set out to modernize how customers interact with product documentation. The goal was simple: deliver faster answers, smarter navigation, and contextual guidance directly within the Unified Defense SIEM (UDS) platform.

That journey began with a major transformation—one that redefined how documentation supports security teams in real time.

Our current change began with that challenge.

Reinventing Documentation with Zoomin

As part of that transformation, Securonix partnered with Zoomin Inc. to launch a next-generation documentation portal and in-product help experience.

The Zoomin-powered portal introduced several key innovations:

  • Contextual help embedded directly in the UI
  • Advanced search and filtering (faceted search)
  • Improved navigation and topic structure
  • Smart tables and dynamic content experiences
  • User feedback mechanisms

Most importantly, it enabled contextual documentation, allowing users to access relevant help content based on the page or feature they were viewing—without leaving the product.

You can read about that transition here: Reinventing Securonix Documentation

Zoomin itself was designed as a unified content delivery platform with AI-powered search and in-product help, allowing users self-serve answers more efficiently.

This marked a major leap forward in usability, accessibility, and customer success.

A New Challenge: Platform Retirement

In 2025, Salesforce’s acquisition of Zoomin introduced an unexpected challenge. As part of the transition, the Zoomin documentation platform service was scheduled for retirement, giving Securonix until the end of March 2026 to migrate to a new solution.

Rather than treating this as a setback, the Securonix Knowledge Engineering team saw an opportunity to evolve again—this time preserving everything users loved while modernizing the underlying platform.

Transitioning to Fluid Topics

In the fall of 2025, Securonix partnered with Fluid Topics to power its next-generation documentation portal (see Figure 1):

The objective was clear:
Deliver the same high-quality experience users relied on—while enhancing scalability, AI capabilities, and long-term sustainability.

Figure 1: The Securonix Doc Portal now uses the Fluid Topics platform.

Looks familiar, don’t it? (Ah, the joys of writing a blog and not a tech doc!)

Zoomin vs. Fluid Topics: What Changed?

While both platforms share a common goal—delivering intelligent, user-centric documentation—there are key differences in how they achieve it.

Zoomin (Previous Platform)

  • Unified content aggregation layer
  • AI-enhanced search (Zoomin GPT)
  • Strong contextual help integrations
  • Enterprise content delivery across multiple systems

Fluid Topics (Current Platform)

  • Modern documentation experience platform with built-in design flexibility
  • Enhanced faceted search and navigation controls
  • Support for AI-powered chat (OpenAI integration)
  • Strong content analytics and personalization capabilities
  • Streamlined publishing and governance workflows
  • Integration with Securonix Community

In short, Fluid Topics builds on the foundation Zoomin established—while offering a more flexible, future-ready platform for knowledge delivery.

Key Features of the New UDS Documentation Portal

The new Fluid Topics-hosted portal preserves—and in many cases enhances—the capabilities users expect:

  • Intuitive Design Platform
A clean, modern interface that prioritizes usability and accessibility.
  • Simple, Structured Navigation
Organized content that supports both guided learning and quick lookups.
  • Powerful Search with Facets
Filter results dynamically to find exactly what you need, faster.
  • OpenAI-Powered Chatbot
Ask natural-language questions and get precise, contextual answers.
  • Smart Tables & Dynamic Content
Instantly filter large datasets and focus on relevant information.
  • Integrated Feedback System
Continuous improvement driven by real user input.

Seamless Continuity: Contextual Help Remains

One of the most critical capabilities—contextual help—remains unchanged (see Figure 2).

Just like Zoomin, the new portal provides:

  • Instant access to documentation based on the current UDS page
  • Embedded help experiences directly within the product
  • Dynamic tooltips
  • Reduced friction between action and learning

This ensures users can continue to learn and troubleshoot without interrupting their workflow.

Designed for Familiarity—and Growth

Perhaps the most important outcome of this transition is something users may not notice at all.

And, as mentioned before, that’s by design.

The move to Fluid Topics was intentionally executed to:

  • Preserve the familiar experience existing customers rely on
  • Maintain continuity in workflows and navigation
  • Provide fast, intuitive access for new users getting started

Looking Ahead

While the platform behind the scenes has changed, the mission remains the same:

Deliver fast, accurate, contextual knowledge that empowers security teams to succeed.

Whether you’re a seasoned SOC analyst who already depends on Securonix for your security workflow, or just getting started, the new UDS Documentation Portal continues to provide the same trusted experience—with expanding flexibility and innovation behind it.

And that, like Securonix innovation as a whole, will stay the same.
